SEGUNDAS
As a Sophomore in high school I asked my parents for a sewing machine for Christmas. I had no clue how to sew but I knew I loved to create. For four years that sewing machine went untouched. It sat on the top shelf in a closet until one day, I got bored. I grabbed my sewing machine off of the shelf and started teaching myself how to make scrunchies, using some of my granny’s old fabrics. For about a month I made scrunchy after scrunchy and started selling them for a small penny. Then, one day, I saw a girl online wearing a jacket made from a quilt. I fell in love with it and thought, I could do that. I went to goodwill and found a brown, factory made blanket and took it home. I came up with a pattern and made my first jacket. I put colorful buttons on it and used a lime green thread. I was in love. I wore it out and got asked by three different people where I got it from. I’ve been making them every since.
